Next to Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata is one of the most important directors of anime. His most acclaimed film is HOTARU NO HAKA / GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES (1988), a shattering war drama, although he has made other excellent films in his career. In 1985, he founded Studio Ghibli with his long-time collaborator Hayao Miyazaki. Apart from the films listed below, Takahata has also contributed to TV series, such as the first season of RUPAN SANSEI (LUPIN III).
