Difficult, slowly-paced drama from acclaimed director Kurosawa, about the friendship between two alienated young workers in Tokyo. One of them runs amok, and the other sees it his task to take care of his pet jellyfish that ultimately escapes into the sewage system. Not a horror film a la ALLIGATOR (1980), this one is more a character study and a study of loss and alienation. See for yourself if you can make any sense of it. English title: BRIGHT FUTURE.
