One of Disney's best animated features (their second full-length feature), the classic story by Carlo Collodi is splendidly brought to the screen. A toymaker's wish to turn his latest creation, a wooden puppet, into a "real boy" magically comes true after a series of marvellous adventures. Excellent animation, design and (Oscar-winning) score, film loses itself in some playful details in the first half, but turns into a whale of an adventure in the second. A children's classic.
