Danny Boyle (*1956)

After some years of work for television, British director Danny Boyle's breakthrough movie came out in 1994. SHALLOW GRAVE (1994) was a festival hit and enabled its director (as well as its star Ewan McGregor) to work on one of the 1990s most acclaimed drug-related movies, perhaps the British slacker movie, TRAINSPOTTING (1996). After this Boyle was considered an A-director and went to Hollywood (with McGregor in tow) to make the romantic fantasy comedy A LIFE LESS ORDINARY (1997) and the adventure drama THE BEACH (2000). Boyle then ventured back to Britain for his next film, his first foray into horror, the zombie movie 28 DAYS LATER... (2002). The children's drama MILLIONS (2004), containing the same supernatural touches as A LIFE LESS ORDINARY (1997), was an unlikely but good follow-up to the horror film. Boyle's latest film, the science-fiction thriller SUNSHINE (2007) proves that he is capable of making good movies in all genres. The filmography below omits Boyle's work for TV (mini) series.
